borage

how to grow:
Borage can be grown from seeds. It's an annual but in our zone 5 Montreal garden it often survives the winter and comes back all by itself in the spring. Still it's better to save some seeds in case the winter is too harsh. I really love borage as it is one of the most beautiful plants.
medicinal properties:
In many countries borage is a normal vegetable in the daily diet. It can be found in soups, sauces and salads and can also be prepared as a tea. But borage is more than just a culinary herb, borage also has many good medicinal properties. As a healing herb borage can strengthen the heart and lung. And old adage says that borage is for courage. It can give you energy when you feel fatigue, stress and fear and can lift your spirits when you feel sad.

cautions and possible side effects:
All parts of the plant can be eaten so I couldn't find any possible side effects.
